Our Director is a graduate in law (LLB Hons 1998; LPC (Merit) 1999), Solicitor (England and Wales 2001) and Solicitor-Advocate of the Higher Courts (All Courts of England and Wales 2007). She specialises in construction and engineering projects, infrastructure, technology and commercial development.  She is also a Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM), accredited as Above Target in All Areas by the Project Management Institute (PMI) (2022). She is a CEDR-Accredited Mediator (2024).

 

She spent her junior practising years in the City of London before moving in-house as Senior Counsel to pursue her desire to be part of a team at the heart of business operations. In 10 years of in-house practice on both the public sector client-side and the private-sector professional services side, she gained valuable experience in the real world of major project delivery and international operations. As an independent adviser to industry, Sarah is in demand as a facilitator and problem-solver in a 'mediation-lite' environment and is now building a Mediation practice. In addition, with a top-level accreditation in project management, Sarah adds technical prowess to her legal practice. She is currently studying PMI-PMP.

We are whole-life advisors: we work with a variety of project delivery organisations, who operate at several tiers of the construction and engineering industry.

 

We guide clients (as their part in the project requires): all the way through pre-conception or vision; corporate and contract strategy; procurement; contract negotiation; project delivery; commissioning, completion and handover; and then supporting the project's passage into operations, maintenance and legacy. 

 

We advise on all aspects of project delivery: project strategy, contracts, claims and disputes, and risk management and insurance strategies, as well as broader organisational infrastructure support to ensure contracts can be managed effectively and efficiently by the business's functions.

We advocate confident and competent contract and commercial management: we focus on putting law in its practical and purposive context (hence SCL's strapline). We are sensitive to the people (resources) aspect of project delivery.

We draw on our field experience: enabling us to work cross-functionally and to operate at the highest levels of an organisation with sensitivity to the daily need to deliver business objectives and value to clients.

 

We specialise: in law relating to P3M in construction and engineering.

We support your learning needs and accelerate your development: we design bespoke training workshops and programmes for industry, and partner with leading organisions and educational establishments. Our training is consistently rated as excellent, due to its rich content delivered with energy and expertise.

We are active in volunteering: our Director speaks regularly at industry and legal conferences, writes for various publications, and contributes to online forums.

We communicate: French, German and Spanish in addition to English.
